5 Things I Hate about Tony Hawks 1&2 Remastered

I have to start by saying that Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 is one of my favorite games of the year so far. This is how you do a remaster! The best compliment I can give this game is that the five things I hate about it are not actually all that big of a deal. Activision messed up the last two Tony Hawk releases, but they more than made up for it with this. It manages to pull at those nostalgia strings, but at the same time, it is a solid and fun game that will eat up hours and hours of your time.

So, while today I am talking about the five things, I hate about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remastered. I have to say that this is truly a fantastic game.

The Music Is Very Quiet

The first time I played the game I was rocking out to one of the new tracks, Machine Gun Kelly’s My Bloody Valentine. I liked the song; it fitted the warehouse level I was on and I wanted to crank that sucker up. I went into the options and was shocked to see that the music was already as loud as it could go. I know I could “turn up the TV” however, I feel that the music should be louder in the actual game.

Downhill Jam Feels… Different

For the most part, they have nailed this game. Seriously if I could give everyone who made Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 Remastered a high five I would. Yet there is one level that I really did not enjoy and that was Downhill Jam. Something just feels a tad off with this level, it was getting the Secret Tape that really made me notice there was something more different about this level than any of the rest.

No Moon Gravity?

I bet many of you guys did what I did and that was to look right away to see if the cheats from the original would work. While there are cheats in this game, you do have to earn them. However, from what I have seen one of the most fun cheats, moon gravity does not appear to be an option here. I always had a lot of fun with this and trying to see how many 900’s you could nail before you hit the ground was always a good time.

It Makes Me Want Levels From 3 & 4

This may not be a popular opinion, but my favorite from the original series is actually Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4. I loved how each level was more like an open world where you would tackle goals on an individual basis. Plus, in regards to Tony Hawk’s 3, that game had some of the best levels in the franchise. This may be a list of things that I “hate”, but actually this is kind of a compliment as what they have done here is so good that I want them to add the content from 3 and 4 in as DLC!

The Skate Park Editor Is Not Much Fun

Ok, so the skate park editor is a strange thing to complain about, but the little I have dabbled with it makes it seem like it was a feature just tacked on. I love how they keep the game as close to the original as possible, that is what makes it so great for me. However, I feel that for the skate park editor they could have jazzed it up a bit and made it more interesting. I know it is a bit harsh to complain about a mode that is a bonus, but I cannot see myself spending much time here at all.
