What edition of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom should I buy?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is not just the biggest Nintendo Switch game of 2023, it is one of the biggest video games in general of 2023. This is a game that feels like has been in development forever, but we know for certain that it is now weeks away and we all could not be any more excited.

Today, we are checking out the two different versions of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom as well as some other cool stuff that is coming out…. Or is rumored to be for the games release.

When Is It Out?

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is scheduled for release on May 12th. It would be very, very surprising if Nintendo were to change this date now.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Standard Edition

This is the base version of the game; you get the game and that is that. The pricing is very interesting. In the USA, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is going to be $69,99! This is becoming the new standard price for big AAA titles and it will be the first Nintendo title to have this price. However, in the UK, the price is set at £59,99 which is quite interesting.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Collector’s Edition

Here we go! The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom: Collector’s Edition is epic! As we write this it is super tough to get a hold of so you may have to do some shopping around. In the UK, it has an RRP of £109,99 (130 bucks in the USA), but some stores are selling it at a higher price now that it is hard to get at your more “standard” retailers. Be sure to shop around for this!

The contents are pretty awesome and great if you love your physical collectibles. Included with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition is,

A physical copy of the game

A steel book case

An art book

An Iconart Steel Poster

A pin badge box set containing four pin badges

To be honest, the RRP for this is not bad at all as Zelda stuff tends to keep its price or more often than not increase in price! If you want this, you are better off jumping on it as soon as you can.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Link Amiibo

The Amiibo craze is not dead and it is about to get a shot in the arm thanks to the awesome new Link Amiibo that is being released to go along with the game. Not only is this a cool collectible to have on display, but it also gives you a very cool skin for Link’s paraglider that has the Hylian crest on it. It is worth noting that the Link Amiibo’s for Skyward Sword and Majora’s Mask also give Link’s paraglider a new skin.

As is the case with most Amiibos, if you want this, do not sleep on it as Zelda themed Amiibos tend to see their price creepy up quickly after release.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED Console

Ok, full disclosure here, as of us writing this article, this has not been confirmed, but The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED Console that was “leaked” back in December is looking more and more real as the weeks go by. We saw these awesome looking gold Joy-Cons one having green on it and the other white. The actual Switch Dock is white with more Tears of the Kingdom theming on it and it looks awesome.

A huge reason why this is looking more likely to be real is that the icons on the Joy-Cons are the same as those that are on The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition. Also, Nintendo has already released numerous themed Nintendo Switch consoles for some of their bigger titles so this would not be a huge shock if it did turn out to be real.

What Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Should I Buy?

It all depends on how big of a Zelda fan you are. If you just love the games and want to play it, the standard edition is more than good enough. However, if you also collect Zelda merch, you probably should consider getting The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Collector’s Edition as it is only going to increase in price after the release of the game. We would also advise that you pick up that new Amiibo ASAP if you have any interest in adding it to your collection!
