10 Tips And Tricks Oddworld: Soulstorm

Oddworld: Soulstorm has just been released and if you are a PlayStation 5 owner with PlayStation Plus, you have gotten the game as part of your subscription.

Ever since the first game on the PlayStation, the adventures and trouble that Abe goes through has struck a real chord with gamers. Today we are looking at 10 tips and tricks for Oddworld: Soulstorm.

Game Help On PS5

The PlayStation 5 has this awesome feature for certain games called Game Help. Last months Maquette had it and so does Oddworld: Soulstorm. What this does is, save you from having to fire up YouTube while you are playing and get stuck. If you get stuck, just press the home button and you can go to Game Help and it will give you a guide on the current section you are on.

Using Stealth Is A Must

Abe is not Kratos or Nathan Drake! In other words, he cannot stand and go toe to toe with people. You have to play Oddworld with stealth at the forefront of your tactics. Avoiding confrontation and sneaking past an enemy is 99/100 the way to go. You can also distract enemies and distract them to avoid making contact with them.

Watch Your Surroundings

While getting blown away or eaten by an enemy is a grizzly end for Abe. There are other ways that you can meet your maker in Oddworld: Soulstorm. For example, you can die by falling into a chasm because you missed a jump or if you were not looking where you were going. There are also many death traps that are waiting to get you too, so take a second to look at your surroundings when you enter a new area.

The Power Of The Mind

Like in previous Oddworld games, Abe can use mind control to get through certain situations and puzzles. Take control of enemies to make them attack another enemy, activate a switch or a trap, or just to get them the heck out of the way!

Tell The Mudokons What To Do!

Look, The Mudokons are freaking morons and rely on you to tell them what to do at pretty much every step of the game. You may think “screw them” and just try to get through each level quickly. While that is something you can do, you will need to save a certain percentage of them to get certain endings.

Getting The Right Ending

Oddworld: Soulstorm has four different endings and the number of Mudokons you save will decide what ending you get. To get the best ending you will need to save 80 percent of the Mudokons on every single one of the 17 levels. If you save 80 percent on less than 6 levels, you will get the worst ending the game has.

How To Unlock Levels 16 And 17

If you want to play the last two levels of the game, you have to actually unlock them. The way you do this is by saving 80 percent of the Mudokons on 12 or more levels. This gives you a “good” ending as well as a funny cinematic. This is the only way to play those last two levels!

Using The Level Select

Once you have beaten the game, you will unlock the level select which lets you play any level you want. This is great for trying to get 80 percent of those Mudokons saved on the 12 levels you need to get the best ending and unlock the last two levels. Be warned, there are no save points when you use level select, you must beat the level in one go!

How To Save Mudokons

So, we have talked about saving the Mudokons so you can get the best ending and see those last two levels, but how do you do that? Well, this differs from level to level.

You may need to help them avoid enemies or you may just have to guide them No matter what, you need to look for what is called a bird portal. Once you find one of these any Mudokons you have found and are close by can be teleported to safety.

How Many Trophies Are There?

Oddworld: Soulstorm has 33 trophies. The breakdown is this, 18 bronze, 9 silver, 5 gold, and 1 platinum. As you would expect, getting the platinum requires you to get all of the other trophies. 8 of the trophies are hidden!
