Nintendo just showcased 10 minutes of new, The Legend of Zelda: tears of the Kingdom gameplay, and it looked awesome! Showing off the new abilities Link can use along with a very fun crafting gimmick. However, it was the reveal of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED console that many people got very excited about. Sure, this thing was leaked ages ago, but we now have official confirmation this is legit!
Today we are looking at what exactly this is, how much it is likely going to cost, and if we feel it is worth picking up.
What Is It?
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED console is the latest special release Nintendo Switch console. This one has that very high quality OLED screen that looks fantastic and is slightly larger. It also has a slightly better battery life and doubles the storage capacity (64GB) of a regular Nintendo Switch.
However, it is The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom theming that makes this! The two gold Tears of the Kingdom Joy-Cons look awesome as does the Nintendo Switch dock which has an incredible Tears of the Kingdom graphic that really makes it pop. It is one of the classier more eye-catching special edition Nintendo Switch consoles we have seen so far.
When Is It Out & How Much Is It?
The crazy thing about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED console is that it is coming out before the game. The release date is scheduled to be April 28th, a few weeks before the game is released. Pricing is said to be $359,99/£309,99.
Does It Come With The Game?
One of the stranger things about Nintendo, when they do these special release consoles, is that they never include the game! This was the case for the recently released Splatoon 3 Nintendo Switch OLED console as well. So do not buy this, thinking that you are getting a copy of the game in the box or a digital download code, you will still need to buy the game as well.
There Are Some Extras You Can Buy!
If you are super hyped about The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch OLED console. During this event, Nintendo also announced that on May 12th the same day that the game comes out. A Nintendo Switch Pro Controller that is Tears of the Kingdom themed will be released. Also, a Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch carrying case is also going to be available.
Is It Worth It?
At the end of the day, The Nintendo Switch: Legend of Zelda OLED console is one very cool looking special edition console. If you are hyped for the game and have been wanting to upgrade to a Switch OLED, this could be the perfect time for you to do so, plus, it looks so cool! However, if you already have a Nintendo Switch OLED, you may have to ask yourself if you really need two of them, no matter how cool it looks! To be fair, the asking price for a special edition console is not out of line in our opinion.
