Dead Island 2 has been in the news lately due to the game being delayed yet again! It is fair to say that for as awesome as that last Dead Island 2 trailer we saw was, development hell is certainly a place that this game is no strange to! However, today we are looking past that and trying to get your excitement levels up for the game by looking at the different editions of Dead Island that will be released when the game drops on April 28th…. if it makes this new release date of course.
When Is It Out And What Is It On?
As we said, April 28th is the new release date for Dead Island 2. You can get the game on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, and Xbox One. Many are surprised that the game is still coming out on last gen consoles, but at least this means everyone can enjoy it.
The Pre-Oder Bonus
If you pre-order Dead Island 2 you can get some neat bonuses. The pre-order bonuses are The Memories of Banoi Pack which includes the following items,
Banoi War Club
Memories Of Banoi Baseball Bat
Personal Space Skill Card
Dead Island 2 Day One/Standard Edition
The Dead Island Standard Edition is also called the Dead Island Day One Edition. This just comes with the Memories of Banoi Pack and nothing else and is the most base version of the game. Now, in our experience, you can still find games that are supposed “Day One” Editions years after the game has been released! This is the base version of the game and the version to get if you just want to play the game.
Dead Island 2 Pulp Edition
If you are cool with spending an extra 5 or 10 bucks/pounds you can get the Dead Island 2 Pulp Edition. This comes with different cover art on the box, but it does also include the Memories of Banoi Pack that you get with the Standard/ Day One edition of the game as well. However, with the Dead Island 2 Pulp Edition you also get the Pulp Weapons Pack which includes the following items,
The Homewrecker Sledge Hammer
The Eye Opener Pitch Fork
It is worth noting that in the UK you can spend an extra ten pounds on top of this edition and they will throw in a fun plush of Carver the Shark.
Dead Island 2 Hella Edition
The big collector’s edition is the Dead Island 2 Hella Edition and it is packed with some cool stuff, it also has a higher price tag of $89.99/£84.99 which to be fair is not a terrible price. You get the content from the other two versions, but this is packed with some cool physical items which are,
A Steel book case
A set of tarot cards
A Venice beach travel map
2 pin badges
a cool patch
It also comes with some digital content which is,
The expansion pass
The golden weapons pack
Dead Island 2 Digital Deluxe Edition
If you want to get the game digitally, the Dead Island 2 Digital Deluxe Edition may be for you and it only costs around five bucks more than the standard digital edition. In addition to getting the cross gen game (so PS4 and PS5 in one place) you get some neat items which are,
Memories of Banoi Pack
The Golden Weapons Pack
Character Pack 1
Character Pack 2
Dead Island 2 Gold Edition
The most expensive digital version you can get is the Dead Island 2 Gold Edition and this is priced at around $20 more than the standard version. Included with the Dead Island 2 Gold Edition is,
Memories of Banoi Pack
The Golden Weapons Pack
The Pulp Weapons Pack
Expansion pass
Character Pack 1
Character Pack 2
Which Is The Best Edition Of Dead Island 2?
If you just want to play the game, you are probably best getting the Dead Island 2 Day One/Standard Edition as this gives you the base game. However, if you think you will want to really get into the game, the Gold Edition may be the way to go as you get all of the DLC as well as the expansion pass which has you covered for future DLC. The Dead Island 2 Hella Edition is pretty fairly priced considering it comes with all the digital content as well as those fun physical extras. Hardcore fans of the Dead Island franchise may be better spending the extra bit of money to get this edition.
